HIS SPECIAL TOUCH
“And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.”
Matthew 14: 35, 36
King James Version
I love this song “Shackled by a heavy burden, bent beneath a load of care, then the hand of Jesus touched me and now I am no longer the same. He touched me, He touched me, and oh the joy that floods my soul, something happened and now I know, He touched me and made me whole”. Only Jesus can touch a sin hardened heart and make it soft with His forgiveness and unconditional Love.
There are many people who are bent low with a heavy burden and they desperately need the touch of the Master’s hand. We who claim the name of Christ and call ourselves Christians have a responsibility and privilege to hug others to Jesus. It is very important that we say kind and loving things to each other but without proving our love by our actions, words are meaningless. It would be like promising children that we would give them candy but we never gave it to them.
I had the joy of meeting a person six days ago in a pet store who I knew immediately loved Jesus. I had gone to the pet store to purchase a parakeet and I saw this lady talking to a customer. When she saw me and came over to talk to me, I looked in her eyes and I saw Jesus. I not only saw Jesus in her eyes and smile; I heard Him in her words. I found out that she and her husband own the pet stores.
She not only gave me the information that I needed regarding the parakeet, she talked to me like I was the most important person in the world at that time even though she had a store full of customers. There is nothing in this world as urgent and important as hugging others to Jesus by our actions and words. Jesus has not been here for over two thousand years. He has left us to hug for Him. When is the last time you hugged someone to Jesus? When is the last time you took someone out to eat or invited someone to your home for dinner? We get so busy doing things for Jesus that sometimes we don’t take time to fellowship with Him. Jesus said, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” (Matthew 25:40)
Before we can give His Love to others, we must first have His Love in our hearts. Has there ever been a time in your life when you confessed you were a sinner and asked Jesus to forgive you, come into your heart and save you? If not, then I urge you to do it now! Please don’t put it off; even one more hour may be too late. Say yes to the Christ of Calvary and you will have a peace and joy in your heart that you have never known.
