I would like to speak today about having confidence in the Lord.
My Scripture reference is Hebrews 10:35-36:
"So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised." (All Scripture references are from the NIV)
"So do not throw away your confidence Confidence is absolutly essential in our lives. But is is vitally important, that we realize that the confidence that we have, is not in ourselves, but totally, compleatly, 100%, in the Lord & only the Lord! Look at Phillipians 4:13-"I can do everything through him who gives me strength." Look carefully again at this verse. THROUGH HIM. That is Biblical truth in its purest sense Only through Christ can we accomplish ANYTHING! This is TRUE confidence-that no matter what trials, tests or circumstances, if we put our total confidence in Christ Jesus, & Him alone, there really IS nothing that we cannot do! But it is by the power of the Holy Spirit, that Jesus promised us, that we CAN do anything! Alone, I know that I am nothing, but THROUGH Christ Jesus, I can do that which normally would be impossible!
it will be richly rewarded The confidence that I have had in Christ Jesus HAS been richly rewarded, because I have been able to do things in my previous jobs, That I NEVER thought I'd be able to do! I know this, because I would have fallen for sure, if Jesus HADN'T been helping me!
You need to persevere This is stuicking with a job, or duty that the Lord has given you to do, & not give up! Yes, there ARE times that we feel that we can't go on, for whatever reason. Paul felt that same way, yet he always remembered where his TRUE strength came from. Stephen perservered in his faith, even when he was being stoned to death. And the greatest example of perserverence of all-was that Jesus Christ persevered through His own crucifixion ordeal! This is TRUELY what perseverence is all about-hanging in there, even when the odds seem all against you!
so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. What has he promised, my Brothers & Sisters?
Eternal Life
Forgivness of ALL our Sins
Fellowship with Him
Taking up residence inside each one of us that know Him
Promising that He would never leave us
Giving us the power to defeat even Satan himself!
Helping us through every situation
Never allow us to be tempted beyond that which we can stand
The promise that He hears us when we pray
Whew! And all that he asks in return-our simple confidence in Him Our trust that He IS God! Do we serve a wonderful God, or what?
Be Blessed!
