We now look at the Church at Thyatria:
Revelation 2:18-25 (New International Version)
To the Church in Thyatira
"To the angel of the church in Thyatira write:
These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you): Only hold on to what you have until I come.
These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. Fire of couse, is the universal symbol of both consumption & purification. Bronze, when purified in fire, often could look almost like gold. Not to mention, it was a common metal in warfare of that day.
I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. To me, this shows that the Christian faith is ever growing-it is not stagnant!
Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets. This is extremly important for the Christian church of today! Either we are TOTALLY for God, or TOTALLY against Him! Jesus Himself said that this is required of anyone who will follow Him in:
Matthew 12:30 (New International Version)
30"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.
This person Jezebel, was obviously a tool of Satan, & was trying to lure the Believers away from true faith in Christ! In ANY church, where there is a person within the church, that is not living withing the confines of Christianity, that this person should first be confronted by the elders of the church & given a chance to repent. If they don't-then, they would be cast away from the church. Believers in the Church MUST be unified, or the rot within the church will spread, & eventually destroy it!
Only hold on to what you have until I come. Here is the Gospel in it's most beautiful simplicity-That there is nothing else needed in regard to Christianity-just faith in Christ! That's as simple as it gets!
