The difference between religion and Christianity
I have had many people tell me that they hate religion. In a way I do agree with them. I heard a wonderful definition of both. Religion is man trying to reach up to God. Christianity is God reaching down to man. Being a Christian means having a real relationship with a real living God who loves me. There was once a judge known as the “hanging judge”. No matter who came into his court the sentence was always the stiffest that could be given for the crime. One day his son was the one in his court for a crime he had committed. The courthouse was full because everyone wanted to know if he would be just as hard on his own child. True to his nickname the judge gave the stiffest penalty possible. Then, the judge stood up and took off his robe. He walked down in front of the bench and made the statement that because he loved his son so much he would pay the penalty for him. God did this for us when He sent His only Son to die on a cross so we could be forgiven for our sins. Christ took our sentence on Himself out of His love for us. He also loves us so much that He gives us the choice to accept His gift of mercy and grace or reject it. I am so thankful
