I received an email that was really great. It was a power point presentation so I can not post it here. The photographs were really great but what was said was even better. The title was “A Piece of Cake”. All of us would like our lives to be a piece of cake, right? We all ask at some point “WHY”. Why did this happen to me? Why do I have to go through this? Think about this also.
A daughter was looking really downcast one day and her mom asked her what was wrong. The daughter said that she had failed her math test, her boyfriend had dumped her for her best friend and then proceeded to list a few more things that had happened to her.
The mother thought for a moment and told her daughter that she was going to bake a cake. She knew that her daughter loved cake and that it might help a bit.
The daughter sat across from her at the table while her mother was getting the ingredients together.
“Would you like a piece of cake?” the mother asked
“Sure! You know I love cake” was the reply
“Here have some oil” her mother said with a smile
“No way!” the daughter replied. “That is gross”
“Have some eggs then” mom said as she pushed the raw eggs to her daughter.
“That would make me sick.”
“Well then how about some flour?”
“You have got to be kidding” said the daughter
Then her mother looked at her and said. It takes all of these ingredients to make a cake. By themselves they are not good but only when you mix them all together will something good come of it.
The mother then mixed the ingredients well and asked the daughter if she would like to eat it now.
“Not really” was the thoughtful answer
“Then we need to apply some heat!”
God know just how much heat to apply to our lives to make all the ingredients turn into something wonderful. Just like all the ingredients in the cake mix need to be baked before a cake will turn out for the best. God must turn up the heat in our lives to make us turn into what is best.
We may question why all of the things are happening in our lives but we must never forget the Maker of all things. He is the Master and truly does know what it best for everyone.
May each of you turn into the “cake” that God wants you to be. Don’t balk when He starts mixing and turns up the heat.
