How Heavy Is Your Bag? One of my teachers had each one of us bring a clear plastic bag and a sack of potatoes. For every person we'd refuse to forgive in our life experience, we were told to choose a potato, write on it the name and date, and put it in the plastic bag. Some of our bags, as you can imagine, were quite heavy.
We were then told to carry this bag with us everywhere for one week, putting it beside our bed at night, on the car seat when driving, next to our desk at work.
The hassle of lugging this around with us made it clear what a weight we were carrying spiritually, and how we had to pay attention to it all the time to not forget, and keep leaving it in embarrassing places. Naturally, the condition of the potatoes deteriorated to a nasty slime.
This was a great metaphor for the price we pay for keeping our pain and heavy negativity! Too often we think of forgiveness as a gift to the other person, but it clearly is for ourselves as much as anyone!!
So the next time you decide you can't forgive someone, ask yourself...Isn't your bag heavy enough?

My bag is full of potatoes for every time i don't forgive myself. God forgives me because I have accepted the love and sacrifice of our Lord Jesus. But i have the audacity to hold a grudge against myself when He has made me clean. Perhaps one day soon i will throw those potatoes away. It's not a conscious effort of not forgiving by the way Just an underlying annoyance.

I Will Paint You A Rainbow
I'll paint you a rainbow as a gift from me,
Then hang it from heaven for the whole world to see.
On a canvas of love I'll cover your fears,
With a soft brush I'll dry all your tears.
I'll paint you a rainbow with feelings so deep,
My stroke will be gentle, my touch you may keep.
On a palette of words I will tenderly blend,
Colorful thoughts with bright verses to send.
I'll paint you a rainbow in reds, blues and gold,
Stretched like loving arms ready to enfold.
And deep in the center of the most vibrant hue,
I'll etch from memory the essence of you.
I'll paint you a rainbow, a bridge to my heart,
So loneliness and pain can begin to depart.
Just look up at the sky when life hits a bend,
I painted a rainbow for YOU my friend.

Friendship within the Word
The Word of God, is not a responsibility, one has to obey. It's a privilege to spend time with God! A man or woman of God is separated from the world in their feelings, their actions, and in the way they speak. You want to spend time with those that you love. We seem to always cherish friendships, and take time to listen and be there for others. So why is it so hard for us to spend time with God? The way to spend time with God, and in his closeness, is by spending time in His Word.
Also be still and silent and listen for the words unspoken within your heart and soul. God is our one true friend, even when we feel lost and alone, God is with us. Depend on his unconditional, unchangeable Love always. Be still and hear the voice of God.
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. 2 Samuel 22:31
Friend, we need to hear the Word of God, appreciate the Word of God, and depend on his word. Prayer is the silent friendship, spoken from your heart, and gives a closeness of an everlasting bond, in these times the Word is spoken with in your soul.
Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth. Psalm 54:2
We are to make known, all that is praiseworthy and the Joy and Love held within his words! Glorify and share the bond of friendship: that no one else can give. In your darkest times the light of Jesus will be guiding you.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? Psalm 56:4
