If I Become A Christian, Will God Solve All My Problems?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that we have to look at the character of God, in order to answer this question.
First: we are talking about the Creator of the ENTIRE UNIVERSE! (Genesis 1:1-2:25.) I think that we can safely say that God can indeed solve all our problems!
But think about this: If God DID solve all our problems when we become a Christian, why should we continue to trust Him anymore?
Above all-God desires to have a personal & intamate realtionship with each one of us. He wants us to continue to trust Him to help us deal WITH our problems.
We see in
Matthew 18:3 (New International Version)
And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
that God wants us to come to Him as little children. Children are TOTALLY dependant upon their parents for EVERYTHING! They compleatly trust that their parents will always be there for them, & that they will always provide for them.
This is the same kind of relationship that Christians can have with their Creator. THAT is why God wants us to be like little children, so that He can teach us, guide us THROUGH our problems, & provide for us, just as a parent does for their children.
One of the best examples of how God wants to care for us is found in
Matthew 23:37 (New International Version)
"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.
We WILL continue to encounter problems, even after we become a Christian. The difference is that we will
1. be assured of eternal life
1 John 5:13 (New International Version)
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
2. be adopted into God's family
Ephesians 1:5 (New International Version)
he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—........
3. be Born Again
John 3:3 (New International Version)
In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.
4. be forgiven of our sins
Ephesians 1:7 (New International Version)
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace
5. receive a new nature
2 Corinthians 5:17 (New International Version)
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
And MOST important:
6. have the assurance that Jesus will NEVER leave us, no matter what, AND that NOTHING can seperate us from Him
Romans 8:35-39 (New International Version)
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Can God solve all our problems? He most certainly can! But He much more desires that we compleatly trust in Him for help in working THROUGH our problems, so that we CAN know Him better & that we will realize that we cannot do ANYTHING by ourselves.
But with God's help, we can:
Romans 8:37 (New International Version)
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
God WILL give us WHATEVER we need to get through ANY situation-& that is considerably more rewarding, than just having all our problems solved for us!
